What really took my breath away was quite how thin and light this phone is, it can absolutely be used as a normal, non-folding phone when in folded position, and takes up just a tiny bit more space in your pocket than any other non-folding phone on the market. Once opened though, you discover a whole other world! Unlike the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, you really cannot see the bend in the screen, and you go from having a regular mobile device in your hand, to pretty much having all the benefits of a tablet right there with you. No need to take laptops to meetings - you can open up your One Plus Open, take notes, open browsers and even do video calls on the screen in front of you. Even better - you can watch movies in bed without straining your eyes at all.
I was very impressed with the photos and video on this phone. As a One Plus fan, I've always maintained their Hassleblad cameras outperform iPhone's - with nightscapes and portraits being particular areas of superiority. While I'm told cameras have to be paired down for foldable devices, I found the image quality very impressive on the device I trialled, and being able to take images with the whole unfolded screen, created fantastic finished products. Critics of this phone cite a lack of wireless charging and waterproofing as its downsides. These weren't major drawbacks for me, but there is no escaping the fact that this is an expensive mobile device. That said, I'm confident any tech-savvy loved one would be thrilled to find one of these in their stocking on Christmas morning!"
